Castile soap is made from a base of vegetable oils, primarily olive oil, with no animal fats added. The name comes from a region in Spain where olive oil is plentiful. This category will not only list recipes with “castile” in their name, but also hopefully all of the vegetable-based soap recipes (if I can pay close enough attention while I categorize them). Recipes made with milk will probably be listed in the Milk-Based Bar Soap Recipes category even if they are made exclusively with vegetable oils.
